Providing empathy for individual learners around their current challenges and accessing trainer support are key ingredients to a successful learning journey.
Practical Outcomes has a team of passionate trainers who connect with student support and practical placement teams to build the skills and confidence learners need to thrive in their careers.
Practical Outcomes Trainer and Assessor Kylie Giacobbe explains why she chose a career in early childhood education and care training.
“I enjoy being part of the student’s learning journey, being able to help them build their skills and confidence throughout the course,” she says.
“A big part of my role on a day-to-day basis is talking to my students and supporting them through their assessments. It could be that I’m visiting them in the workplace. They might be out on a placement and I’m coming to support them there. It could be that we’ve organised a time to visit each other at the library and just going through their tasks — working through any things that they may not be familiar with, looking through the learning resources and looking at how to navigate the internet and finding what they’re actually after to support them.”
Understanding the challenges of a learner’s situation is what drives Practical Outcomes’ Learner Success Advisor Ashleigh Norton
“I think it’s really important to have that empathy when dealing with students and understand the difficulties that they are currently facing.”
At times learners can feel overwhelmed in the early stages of their course, but with the right support every learner is capable of progressing through their course and gaining the qualifications required to thrive in a meaningful and rewarding career. With our practical and supportive approach, confidence grows quickly.
