How the CHC50125 Diploma is Now More Accessible for More Educators

Tuesday, September 23, 2025

For many educators, the desire to move forward in their careers has always been strong. Striving towards leadership positions is of course a great goal to have, and thanks to the newly updated CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, barriers are coming down and career progress is now more accessible.

The updated qualification expands the entry requirements, making the Diploma more readily available to learners, while opening doors for a broader range of educators. These changes acknowledge that skills and experience can be gained in many ways, and now those pathways are officially recognised.

Same trusted training, more pathways

The CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care still delivers the comprehensive, nationally recognised training that employers are looking for, equipping you with vital skills for the sector. You’ll graduate with the knowledge and practical skills to lead teams, guide children’s development, and take on higher-level responsibilities.

The new entry pathways mean that you can now qualify if you:

  • Hold a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30113 or CHC30121); OR
  • Hold an Australian Certificate III in Children’s Services plus at least 12 months of cumulative employment (full-time equivalent) within the last five years in a regulated service, supported by verifiable evidence; OR
  • Hold the CHCSS00147 Entry into Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care skill set.

This flexibility ensures that educators with hands-on experience or alternative training routes can now enrol.

Why accessibility matters

For the early childhood sector to thrive, it needs strong, qualified leaders. By making the Diploma more inclusive, the CHC50125 updates help more educators progress their careers and contribute to the sector.

This is a win for individuals, services, and the children and families they support.

Pathways beyond the Diploma

Your career progress can keep going further too, as the CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care is also a stepping stone to further study.

Through our partnership with Swinburne Online, Diploma graduates can gain credit towards a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Teaching or Early Childhood & Primary Teaching). This pathway means you can advance beyond the Diploma, fast-tracking your way to a university qualification and opening up even more career opportunities.
