Careers session provides early childhood job opportunities for graduates

Thursday, April 4, 2019

Practical Outcomes teamed up with Goodstart Early Learning to host a careers session during March, which included a chance for attendees to have a one-on-one interview which could lead to an early childhood educator job opportunity.

With Practical Outcomes early childhood education and care graduates holding the reputation for having the practical hands on skills and confidence that make successful early childhood educators, Goodstart was keen to partner with Practical Outcomes to identify potential new recruits for their centres.

More than 35 graduates and soon-to-be-graduates of Practical Outcomes’ Certificate III and Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care attended to learn more about what it takes to thrive as an educator at Goodstart Early Learning

Practical Outcomes’ Placement Coordinator Kylie Jackson said:

“We have built fantastic relationships with child care employers over the years. This helps our learners with placements and also helps our graduates to connect with live job opportunities and realise their career goals.”

As the leading not-for-profit childcare centre in Australia, Goodstart’s purpose is to ensure Australia’s children have the learning, development and wellbeing outcomes they need for school and life.

Goodstart provides high quality, accessible, affordable, community-connected early learning as well as collaborate with the sector to drive change for the benefit of all children.

David Pytko, Talent Acquisition Consultant at Goodstart said that the session enabled him to assess attendees for the things that don’t translate over the phone such as communication with others and teamwork.

“We had a great opportunity to meet with and find out a little bit more about candidates interested in joining Goodstart,” Mr Pytko said.

“Essentially we were looking for not just the knowledge and skills required from recently grads but also the motivation and passion that align with our core values, in potential recruits.”

“Many of those who attended the session will be pursued for employment with Goodstart, subject to the successful completion of their application processes.”

The 12-month Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and 18-month Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care can provide students with a range of career outcomes in an industry which is growing because of the increasing participation of parents in the workforce.
